The Dalmatian is a medium sized dog known for it’s beautiful black and white spotted coat. The Dalmatian has such a unique coat that it has inspired movies, such as The 101 Dalmatians. The Dalmatian originated as a war dog and hunting dog, being used by both army forces and hunters as a helping hand. Due to its origins in war and hunting, the Dalmatian has been bred for aggression and should be carefully chosen by an owner who has a lot of time for training and socialization. The Dalmatian lifespan generally sits between 10-14 years, giving it a shorter average lifespan than some other dogs such as the Chihuahua, which has an average lifespan reaching up to 20 years. These dogs generally get between 51-62 cm in height, and 16 kg to 32 kg in weight.
